Falai Chen

Falai Chen is currently a professor in the School of Mathematics, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He got his B.S. and Ph.D degrees in 1987 and 1994 respectively, both from USTC. His research interest includes algebraic methods in Geometric Modeling, iso-geometric analysis, splines over T-meshes, and applications of sparse analysis in Geometric Modelling and Computer Graphics. He has published over one hundred scientific papers in referred journals and international conferences. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals such as Computer Aided Geometric Design, Visual Computer, and Journal of Computational Mathematics. He won Distinguished Young Investigation Award of NSF of China in 2002, Feng Kang Scientific Computing Award in 2009 and John A. Gregory Memorial Award in 2024. He was elected as a Fellow of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in 2024 and an SMA Fellow of the International Association for Geometric Modeling in 2025.
